library innovations
Besides a strong passion for youth services, Cass’s mastery in the areas of community outreach and diversity are measureable. Her knowledge extends to intellectual freedom and instruction, and she specializes in leadership and middle management.

Cass Mabbott has been a children’s librarian and manager for  more than 16 years at  multiple urban public libraries across the country and  is currently pursuing her PhD at GSLIS, Urbana-Champaign.  Her academic interests  include social justice issues in diverse youth populations, children’s literature, youth culture and management of public libraries.

library innovations
Cass  currently manages the App Gap project, a research study of underserved youth in public libraries and how their use of reading apps might improve their reading levels in conjunction with the summer reading program.

Her favorite book as a kid was Bread and Jam for Frances by Russell Hoban. She loves it so much, Frances is now tattooed on her arm.
