Kyla Sweet
Kyla is the School Library Media Specialist for a K-8 independent bilingual school. Since 2010, she has been responsible for all aspects of the school media experience, from ordering, cataloging, volunteer and staff management, material processing, instruction, storytelling, readers' advisory and fundraising. A transplanted Canadian, Kyla graduated with a MLIS from University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill.
Kyla interned with National Public Radio in Washington, DC, working on image archiving and metadata, as well as producing audio and multimedia pieces. Previously she was an Instructional Assistant and Librarian with Duke University, focusing on Instructional Literacy and Film and Media. She was also a Film Archivist Assistant at the Southern Folklife Collection at UNC-CH, processing, archiving and digitizing film collections.
Kyla gets pretty excited about research, children and YA materials, international librarianship and the possibilities of data. Also, crosswords and chocolate.
