Born in Washington but raised in Texas, Shamim graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with degrees in Psychology and Child Learning and Development. Her professional background is  in teaching and customer service, and she is passionate about thinking outside the box and being creative. She has always loved libraries and reading, so she is excited to be working on projects that advocate the sharing of resources and spreading awareness on the importance of libraries.

Shamim was excited to move back to the Pacific Northwest to be surrounded by the mountains and forests. She enjoys reading a good fantasy book (especially when it  is gloomy outside), baking something sweet, hiking, and traveling to new places with her partner. The next country on her list is Italy!
